Shocking Split: Anna Leigh Waters Teams Up with Anna Bright for a New Pickleball Era

Anna Leigh Waters Teams Up with Anna Bright: Anna Leigh Waters has ended her partnership with Catherine Parenteau and will team up with Anna Bright for the rest of the 2025 pickleball season. Their first tournament as a team will be the Veolia Atlanta Pickleball Championships, a Slam event, scheduled for May 12–18.

This news came shortly after the Veolia North Carolina Open. On Monday, Parenteau posted a heartfelt message thanking Waters for their time together. The announcement surprised many fans, as the two had been one of the most successful duos in the sport.

A Dominant Duo Comes to a Close

Waters and Parenteau were a top team in women’s doubles. In 2025, they played seven events and won five of them. Their two losses came against Callie Smith/Etta Tuionetoa and Jorja Johnson/Tyra Black.

Last year, they had an even stronger run. In 2024, they collected 15 gold medals and 3 silvers. All their 2024 losses came against Anna Bright and Rachel Rohrabacher.

Bright and Waters also have history. The pair teamed up in 2023 and won seven titles together before Waters began partnering with Parenteau full-time.

Career Stats Reflect Success

Waters and Parenteau have a total of 31 titles as a team. That includes 14 championships in 2024. Their overall record in finals is 31 wins and 4 losses.

They are 10-3 in finals against Bright and Rohrabacher. Against all other teams in finals, they have a near-perfect record of 21-1.

Bright and Waters also went 7-for-7 in 2023 tournaments they played together. Parenteau has earned 53 career gold medals: 9 in singles, 37 in doubles, and 7 in mixed doubles.

Change Brings New Questions

The new partnership between Waters and Bright will officially begin at the Veolia Atlanta Pickleball Championships. It is one of the biggest events of the season and offers the most ranking points.

Fans are eager to see how Waters and Bright perform together again. They’ve won together before, but now they must build chemistry in a new season.

What’s Next for Doubles Play?

The change creates a new chapter in pro women’s doubles. Bright brings energy and power, while Waters continues to dominate the sport. Their past success suggests big potential. Still, new teams need time to grow.

Pickleball fans will be watching closely to see if this new team lives up to expectations and how Parenteau moves forward with her next partner.
