Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark recently shared images from her latest practice session on Instagram, attracting appreciation from those close to her. The former Rookie of the Year’s loved ones, including boyfriend Connor McCaffery and former teammate Kate Martin, voiced their admiration in the comments.
Clark’s boyfriend highlighted her footwear, stating, “Shoe game omg,” while Martin complimented her with “Jump rope queen.” Other friends joined in: “Yeah sassy girl!!!” from ex-teammate Jada Gyamfi and “Payton Pritchard type,” according to her brother Colin Clark.
In the photos, Clark is seen practicing shooting drills, holding a jump rope, and proudly showing off her customized PE Kobe Nike sneakers featuring dual accent colors—one shoe with yellow accents on a sky blue base and the other with dark blue accents on a lighter blue body. Clark is anticipated to release her signature Nike sneaker this coming spring.
After spending much of last season sidelined due to injuries, Clark’s early offseason training is crucial as it positions her to regain full fitness ahead of the upcoming WNBA season.
Reggie Miller Names Clark Indiana’s Top Shooter During NBC Broadcast
On Sunday, Caitlin Clark appeared alongside basketball legends like Reggie Miller and Carmelo Anthony on NBC Sports’ Basketball Night in America, providing commentary for the Lakers-Knicks game. During the broadcast, Miller declared Clark to be the best basketball shooter currently in Indiana.
“There’s a new shooter from Indiana. I am the third best shooter in the state of Indiana now,” Miller said. “It’s Caitlin, Tyrese (Haliburton) and now myself… for Knicks fans, she is taking over for me.”
Clark responded thoughtfully to the praise, showing humility by suggesting more input was needed.
“We’ll have to get Tyrese’s opinion on that,” Clark said.
Clark’s reputation as a long-range shooter was built during her collegiate career at Iowa, where she averaged a 37.7% success rate from beyond the arc, attempting 10.4 three-pointers per game and converting 3.9 of those.
Transitioning into the WNBA in 2024, Clark continues to display significant shooting ability, currently converting 32.9% of her three-point attempts while taking 8.7 shots per game and making 2.8.
Early Preparation Sets the Stage for Upcoming Season
Clark’s dedication to early offseason practice underlines her resolve to overcome last year’s injury setbacks. By focusing on improving her shooting and conditioning now, she aims to return stronger for the Indiana Fever and impact the forthcoming WNBA season positively.
With Nike gearing up to launch her signature sneaker and support from prominent figures like Reggie Miller, Clark’s trajectory in professional basketball further solidifies her standing as an influential talent emerging from Indiana.
