Angel Reese is set to return to Unrivaled, the 3-on-3 basketball league, for the last two weeks of its second season. The Chicago Sky forward will suit up for Rose BC alongside teammates Shakira Austin, Chelsea Gray, Sug Sutton, Lexie Hull, and former Sky standout Kahleah Copper.
Reese will not participate in the league’s 1-on-1 tournament starting Wednesday evening, with her first appearance scheduled for February 20 against Hive at 7:45 p.m. on TNT and truTV. Currently, Rose holds a 5-6 record, sitting fifth in the standings, just half a game behind Breeze for the final playoff spot. The playoffs are set to begin on February 28.
Team Adjustments Ahead of Reese’s Return
Unrivaled made a notable move to accommodate Reese’s comeback by executing only the second trade in the league’s history. Azurá Stevens was transferred from Rose to Hive in a four-team deal that also sent Courtney Williams from Vinyl to Breeze and Saniya Rivers from Hive to Vinyl. Trades remain rare in the league, which typically avoids in-season player shifts unless injuries demand changes.
Reese’s Cautious Offseason and Conditioning
This WNBA offseason, Reese approached her recovery with care after spending much of her first two professional seasons on the injury list. A back injury prematurely ended her 2025 campaign, contributing to a more measured pace during the break. Her sole official activity was a December camp with Team USA in Durham, North Carolina, marking her first invitation to the senior national team. There, she joined fellow first-time invitees Paige Bueckers and Caitlin Clark, competing under coach Kara Lawson. Sky assistant coach Latricia Trammell was present as a staff member, offering the team an in-person connection with Reese during the offseason.
Significance of Reese’s Short Return to the Court
This focused two-week stint offers Reese a critical chance to regain her competitive rhythm in real-game settings ahead of the WNBA season starting May 9, when the Sky will open on the road against the expansion Portland Fire. However, uncertainty remains regarding the season’s start due to ongoing collective bargaining discussions that could result in a work stoppage. Despite the unpredictable timeline, Reese’s participation in Unrivaled presents an opportunity to gauge her readiness and potentially earn accolades within the league.
