Angel Reese’s Return Powers Rose BC to Unrivaled Playoffs

Angel Reese made an immediate and significant contribution after rejoining Rose BC this month, helping the team secure a spot in the Unrivaled playoffs. Returning as a mid-season addition following an injury to Aari McDonald and a trade involving Azura Stevens, Reese’s impact on the 3-on-3 league’s defending champions was clear during her first weekend back in play at Sephora Arena in Miami.

Strong opening performance despite narrow defeat

Reese debuted in Season 2 against Hive BC, playing just over 10 minutes while scoring 13 points and grabbing eight rebounds on 6-of-9 shooting. She set the tone early with an offensive rebound and putback soon after entering the game. Despite the close battle featuring 16 ties and 19 lead changes, Rose BC lost 80-78, highlighting the competitive nature of the matchup.

Key victory secures playoff spot with Reese’s dominant presence

Two days later, the stakes rose as Rose BC faced the Laces in a crucial contest with playoff qualifications on the line. Reese dominated the glass, totaling 15 rebounds, nine points, and two blocks. Her defensive efforts helped Rose BC emerge with a 70-66 win, improving their record to 6-7 and guaranteeing their place in the postseason where they aim to defend their inaugural Unrivaled title.

Reese’s impact rooted in proven WNBA experience

Coming off a WNBA season in which she averaged 14.7 points and 12.6 rebounds, Reese’s seamless integration into Rose BC’s system was evident. She complemented frontcourt teammate Shakira Austin, who scored 17 points and pulled down nine rebounds in the first game. Reese’s prior achievements, including leading the league in rebounding and earning Defensive Player of the Year, underscored her value on both ends of the court.

Looking ahead to postseason and national team debut

Rose BC now turns focus to the postseason tournament beginning February 28. Additionally, Reese is set to make her debut with the U.S. senior national team at the FIBA Women’s World Cup qualifying tournament on March 11, highlighting a busy and promising stretch ahead in her basketball career.

“I thought it was important to come back and help the team reclaim the title. We have the talent and chemistry to do it again.” ?Angel Reese, Forward
