Las Vegas Aces’ Chelsea Gray Named Unrivaled League MVP

On Monday, Chelsea Gray of the Las Vegas Aces was awarded the Unrivaled League MVP during the semifinal round at the Barclays Center in New York. The recognition came in front of a sold-out crowd as Gray, representing Rose BC, accepted the accolade just before the evening’s semifinal matchups.

Outstanding Performance Highlights Gray’s MVP Season

Gray, who previously won the Unrivaled 1-on-1 tournament last month, delivered an exceptional season, averaging 24.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game. She notably shattered her own league record by recording 85 assists over 14 games. Throughout the season, Gray achieved nine games scoring 20 or more points and recorded five or more assists in ten games, tying the league record with 10 three-pointers made in a single game.

Other Notable Players and Semifinal Game Results

Former Aces star Kelsey Plum, now with the Los Angeles Sparks, led the No. 1-seeded Phantom BC to an 83-75 semifinal win over Vinyl by scoring 31 points. Dearica Hamby, also a former Aces player with the Sparks, contributed 30 points for Vinyl. In the other semifinal, Arike Ogunbowale celebrated her 29th birthday by securing a game-winning three-pointer, helping the second-seeded Mist defeat Breeze 73-69.

Upcoming Championship and League Growth

The championship game is set for Wednesday at Unrivaled’s Miami home arena, where the victorious team will share a $600,000 prize pool among six players. Following a successful event in Philadelphia earlier this year that attracted more than 21,490 fans, the league relocated the semifinals to New York, drawing another star-studded sellout crowd of 18,261. Prominent attendees included basketball legends Carmelo Anthony and Sue Bird, actors Ashton Kutcher and Jason Sudeikis, as well as Olympic gold medalist Hilary Knight.
