Ally Watt Career
Early Career (2020)
On January 16, 2020, Watt was selected sixth overall by the North Carolina Courage in the 2020 NWSL College Draft. Rather than joining the Courage immediately, she signed on January 30, 2020, with Melbourne City in Australia for the remainder of the 2019–20 W-League season, which overlapped with the NWSL offseason. She made her professional debut on February 16, 2020, as a substitute in a 4–0 win over Melbourne Victory, and scored her first goal the following matchweek against Western Sydney Wanderers.
Watt appeared in all five matches to close the W-League season, including the grand final on March 21, which was held behind closed doors because of the COVID-19 pandemic. After Melbourne City lifted the trophy, she returned to the United States. On June 19, 2020, she signed a two-year contract with the North Carolina Courage ahead of the 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup, but suffered an ACL tear in the 13th minute of her debut on June 27, an injury that kept her out for the rest of 2020.
OL Reign Era (2021-2022)
Watt was traded to OL Reign at the end of the 2020 season. After recovering from injury, she made five appearances for the club during the 2021 NWSL season. She debuted for the Reign in a 3–2 win over the Chicago Red Stars on October 10, 2021, a result that secured a playoff berth for the club. OL Reign were eventually eliminated from the postseason by the eventual champion Washington Spirit.
In 2022, Watt featured in 14 games for the Reign, starting three. On July 1, 2022, her pass to Jess Fishlock set up a Bethany Balcer goal in a 2–0 victory over the North Carolina Courage. Her time in the Pacific Northwest ended on August 15, 2022, when she was traded to the Orlando Pride in exchange for $125,000 in allocation money.
Orlando Pride Era (2022-2025)
Watt quickly established herself as a contributor for the Orlando Pride. On July 17, 2024, she extended her contract through 2025, with an option for 2026. That same year she helped the Pride claim the NWSL Shield with the best record in the league, providing two assists in a 4–1 playoff quarterfinal win over the Chicago Red Stars and another assist in a 3–2 semifinal victory against the Kansas City Current.
Watt started the 2024 NWSL Championship against the Washington Spirit, a match Orlando won 1–0 on a goal from Barbra Banda to claim the club’s first league title. Her contributions across the postseason underscored her role as a dependable playmaker in big moments.
Denver Summit FC Era (2025-Present)
On August 19, 2025, Watt signed with NWSL expansion side Denver Summit FC, which is scheduled to begin play in 2026. A Colorado native, she became the first player signed by the club. The team immediately loaned her back to the Orlando Pride for the remainder of the 2025 NWSL season, allowing her to finish the year with her championship squad before joining Denver full time.
Driving Style and Strengths
Watt combines sharp finishing with a strong sense for the final pass, as evidenced by her 19 career game-winning goals in college and her postseason assists for the Pride.
