Early Life and Background

Bryan Cook grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he attended Mount Healthy High School. As a senior, he was recognized for his outstanding performance on the field, earning first-team All-Southwest Ohio Conference honors after recording 35 tackles, three interceptions, and a fumble recovery in nine games. He also showcased his skills on offense, catching four passes for 110 yards and three touchdowns. Despite his impressive high school career, Cook was lightly recruited and ultimately committed to play college football at Howard University, which was his only scholarship offer.

Path to American Football

Cook began his collegiate career at Howard University, where he played as a cornerback. Over two seasons, he participated in 21 games, accumulating 93 tackles, five tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries, along with 17 passes defended and five interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown. After his sophomore season, Cook transferred to the University of Cincinnati to continue his football journey. He sat out the regular season of his first year due to NCAA transfer rules but was moved from cornerback to safety during his redshirt year. In his first full season with the Cincinnati Bearcats, he recorded 26 tackles and two passes broken up. As a senior, he excelled with 96 tackles, five tackles for loss, and was named first-team All-American Athletic Conference.

The Kansas City Chiefs selected Bryan Cook in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft, making him the sixth safety drafted that year. He signed a four-year rookie contract worth $5.84 million, which included $2.40 million guaranteed. Throughout training camp, Cook competed for a position as the primary backup safety and was eventually named a backup on the depth chart. He made his professional debut on September 11, 2022, in a season-opening game against the Arizona Cardinals, where he recorded one solo tackle.
