Bryce Cason Elder (born May 19, 1999) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Atlanta Braves of Major League Baseball (MLB). Elder played college baseball at the University of Texas at Austin and was drafted by the Braves in the fifth round of the 2020 MLB draft. He made his MLB debut in 2022 and was named to the All-Star game in 2023.
Early Life and Background
Bryce Elder was born on May 19, 1999. He began playing baseball as a child but shifted his focus to golf by the fifth grade to free up his weekends from travel team baseball activities. During his freshman year at Decatur High School in Decatur, Texas, he contemplated returning to baseball. Initially, the coach did not allow him to participate in both baseball and golf during the spring season. However, a new coach hired before Elder’s sophomore year permitted him to play both sports. In addition to baseball and golf, Elder also played basketball.
After graduating from high school, Elder continued his baseball career at the University of Texas at Austin. During his college career, he achieved a record of 10 wins and 6 losses with a 3.42 earned run average (ERA). In 2019, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Wareham Gatemen in the Cape Cod Baseball League, further honing his skills.

Bryce Elder was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the fifth round of the 2020 Major League Baseball draft and signed with the team for $850,000. He made his professional debut in 2021 with the Rome Braves and was subsequently promoted to the Double-A Mississippi Braves and the Triple-A Gwinnett Stripers during the season. Notably, on July 10, 2021, Elder threw a combined no-hitter with Daysbel Hernandez, showcasing his potential as a pitcher.
