Cameron Jordan was born in Chandler, Arizona, to Steve Jordan, a former tight end for the Minnesota Vikings. He attended Chandler High School, where he excelled in both football and track. In his senior year, he earned All-State honors in football, recording 85 tackles and 17.5 quarterback sacks. He was recognized as a three-star recruit and was ranked as the 37th strongside defensive end in the class of 2007. Additionally, he was a standout in track and field, winning the state title in the discus throw at the 2007 5A I State Meet with a top throw of 53.54 meters.

After high school, Cameron Jordan played college football at the University of California, Berkeley, from 2007 to 2010.
