Early Life and Background
Cameron Latu was born in Los Angeles, California, to Jillene Argust and Viliami Latu. At the age of two, he moved to Chisholm, Minnesota, where he began his early exposure to sports. Growing up, Latu participated in various athletic activities, including football, basketball, and track and field. In 2013, his family relocated to Salt Lake City, Utah, where he attended Olympus High School. During his time at Olympus High School, Latu excelled in football, showcasing his talent on both offense and defense.
As a junior, Latu recorded impressive statistics, including 65 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, and nine sacks on defense, while also contributing offensively with 14 catches for 175 yards and two touchdowns. His performance helped lead his team to an 8–3 record and a playoff berth. Initially, Latu committed to play at Brigham Young University (BYU) alongside his identical twin brother, Nathan. However, after a standout senior season, he reopened his commitment and ultimately chose to play college football at the University of Alabama, turning down offers from several other prominent programs.

Latu began his college career at the University of Alabama in 2018, where he redshirted his true freshman season after appearing in just two games. In 2019, he transitioned from linebacker to tight end to bolster the team’s depth at that position. Latu made appearances in 11 games during his redshirt freshman season, primarily contributing on special teams.

Despite this setback, Latu’s potential remained evident as he prepared for his return to the field.
In August 2024, Latu was waived by the 49ers and subsequently signed to the Cleveland Browns practice squad. He was released later that year but was re-signed to the practice squad on December 31, 2024, demonstrating resilience and determination to continue his professional career.

Latu signed a reserve/future contract with the Philadelphia Eagles on January 21, 2025. After being waived during final roster cuts in August, he re-signed with the Eagles’ practice squad the following day.
