Sydney Brown is a Canadian professional American football safety for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Illinois Fighting Illini after transferring from London South Collegiate Institute in Canada to Saint Stephen’s Episcopal School in Florida. Drafted in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft, he won a Super Bowl ring with the Eagles in 2025.

Sydney Brown was born on March 21, 2000, in London, Ontario, Canada. He initially attended the London South Collegiate Institute before transferring to Saint Stephen’s Episcopal School in Bradenton, Florida, in 2016. Along with his twin brother, Chase Brown, Sydney excelled in football during his junior and senior seasons, accumulating 132 tackles and three interceptions. His performance earned him a commitment to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign to play college football.
Path to American Football
At the University of Illinois, Sydney Brown made an immediate impact as a true freshman in 2018, starting all ten games he played and recording 55 tackles and one interception. In 2019, his brother Chase joined him at Illinois after a year at Western Michigan. That season, Sydney started ten of eleven games, achieving 88 tackles, three interceptions, and an interception returned for a touchdown. He continued to build on his success, starting all twelve games in 2021 and returning for his senior year in 2022, where he was recognized as a First-team All-Big Ten player.
