Cameron Sutton Bio
Cameron Amir Sutton (born February 27, 1995) is an American professional football cornerback currently playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Tennessee Volunteers and was selected by the Steelers in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Sutton has also played for the Detroit Lions during his career.
Early Life and Background
Cameron Sutton was born in Jonesboro, Georgia, where he attended Jonesboro High School. During his time there, he played cornerback and wide receiver for the Cardinal football team, accumulating 1,396 all-purpose yards and scoring 19 touchdowns as a senior. In addition to football, Sutton was also active in baseball and basketball. He was rated as a three-star recruit by Rivals.com and committed to the University of Tennessee to play college football under head coach Butch Jones.
Path to American Football
Sutton played for the Tennessee Volunteers from 2013 to 2016, starting all 12 games as a true freshman in 2013. He recorded 39 tackles, two interceptions, one sack, and a touchdown that year. Over the next few seasons, he continued to make significant contributions, including starting all 13 games in 2014 with 37 tackles and three interceptions. Sutton faced challenges during his college career, including a fractured right ankle in 2016, but he returned to play in November of that year.
