Caprice Dydasco Bio
Caprice Ka’anohikula Dydasco (born August 19, 1993) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a right back for Bay FC of the National Women’s Soccer League. She previously played for Pali Blues, the Washington Spirit, Newcastle Jets, NJ/NY Gotham FC, and the Houston Dash. Dydasco was voted the NWSL Defender of the Year while with Gotham FC in 2021 and played college soccer with the UCLA Bruins, winning the NCAA championship in 2013.
Early Life and Background
Caprice Dydasco was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, to parents Jose and Misty Dydasco. She grew up playing soccer at Kamehameha Schools and was a member of the Honolulu Bulls Soccer Club. Dydasco was recognized as a youth All-American in both 2009 and 2010, showcasing her talent from a young age. Her family has a strong soccer background, with her brother Zane Dydasco playing for the United States Air Force Academy and her sister True Dydasco playing for the University of Oregon.
Path to Soccer
Dydasco’s journey in soccer began with her early involvement in youth leagues and high school competitions. She became a four-year starter for the UCLA Bruins from 2011 to 2014, where she made significant contributions to the team’s success. During her college career, she appeared in 94 games, scoring five goals and providing 23 assists. Dydasco played a crucial role in helping UCLA win their first NCAA championship in 2013, establishing herself as a formidable defender.

Early Career (2013–2014)
Dydasco began her professional career with the semi-professional Pali Blues in 2013, where she played for two seasons. In March 2014, she represented the United States women’s national under-23 soccer team, assisting in a game-winning goal during the Six Nations Tournament in Spain. Her performances caught the attention of professional teams, leading to her selection in the 2015 NWSL Draft.
Breakthrough (2015–2019)
On January 16, 2015, Caprice Dydasco was drafted by the Washington Spirit as the nineteenth overall pick. She quickly made an impact, known for her speed and attacking style of play. Dydasco played in six matches during her rookie season. In 2016, she started in 12 regular-season matches and both postseason matches for the Spirit. Unfortunately, she suffered a torn ACL during the NWSL championship, which sidelined her for the 2016–2017 season. Dydasco returned to the field in 2017 and signed a new contract with the Spirit in June of that year.
Notable Works and Milestones
Dydasco’s career took a significant turn when she was traded to NJ/NY Gotham FC in January 2019. She made her 100th regular-season appearance in the NWSL on October 6, 2021, and was named the NWSL Defender of the Year on November 15, 2021. During the 2021 season, she was also recognized in the NWSL Best XI and contributed five assists while scoring her first career goal.
Houston Dash (2022–2023)
On August 19, 2022, Dydasco was traded to the Houston Dash, where she continued to showcase her skills. In her third game of the 2023 season, she surpassed the 10,000-minute mark, becoming the 32nd player in league history to achieve this milestone.
Bay FC (2024–Present)
On November 21, 2023, Caprice Dydasco signed with Bay FC, marking a new chapter in her career as the team’s second-ever player and first-ever free agent signing.
