Dijana “DiDi” Haračić (born 12 April 1992) is a Bosnian professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for San Diego Wave FC of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). Born in Sarajevo, she moved to the United States at the age of two during the Bosnian War, settling in the country that would shape her early sporting life.
Standing 5 ft 9 in (1.75 m), Haračić has built a multi-club career on both sides of the Atlantic and represents Bosnia and Herzegovina internationally. She is widely recognized as one of the most dependable shot-stoppers in the NWSL, particularly through her record-setting tenure with Angel City FC.
Early Life and Background
Haračić was born on 12 April 1992 in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Her early childhood coincided with the Bosnian War, and at the age of two she left the country with her mother and older sister Anja, eventually reaching Germany as refugees before resettling in the United States.
Her father, Izet Haračić, played professional football in Germany and also represented Bosnia and Herzegovina at the 1994 Winter Olympics as a bobsledder. Haračić began her professional career with D.C. United Women between 2011 and 2012, making seven appearances during that spell. When the club rebranded as the Washington Spirit ahead of the 2013 NWSL season, she remained with the organization as the starting keeper for the Reserves, playing all 12 matches and posting a 0.580 goals against average.
In 2014 she joined the Western New York Flash, though a knee injury limited her single appearance to the season finale, a 3–3 draw against the Chicago Red Stars. She was waived at the end of that year and signed with Swedish Division 2 Södra Norrland side Krokom/Dvärsätts IF for 2015, gaining experience in European football.
Washington Spirit Breakthrough (2016–2018)
Haračić returned to the Washington Spirit organization in 2016, playing for the Reserves in the WPSL to regain match fitness. Ahead of the 2017 season, she signed with the first team, marking her entry into the top flight of American women’s soccer.
Over two seasons with the Spirit she made nine appearances, learning from senior players and contributing when called upon. Although her minutes were limited, her consistency in training earned her a January 2019 trade to Sky Blue FC, later rebranded as NJ/NY Gotham FC, alongside teammates Estelle Johnson and Caprice Dydasco in exchange for the third overall and 29th picks of the 2019 NWSL College Draft.
Gotham FC Era (2019–2021)
At Gotham FC, Haračić served as a dependable option between the posts during a rebuilding phase for the club. Her time in New Jersey helped her refine the tactical side of her game and adjust to varying defensive setups.
On 8 December 2021, she was traded to expansion side Angel City FC, opening the next chapter of her career on the West Coast.
Angel City Era (2022–2024)
In her first season with Angel City in 2022, Haračić appeared in 21 of 22 regular-season matches, logging 1,890 minutes. She finished the campaign with 70 saves, four clean sheets, and ranked fifth in the league in save percentage.
On 3 March 2023, she agreed to a contract extension with Angel City FC through 2024, with an option for 2025. She made her first appearance of the 2024 season on 13 April 2024 in a 1–0 victory over the Chicago Red Stars, securing the team’s first clean sheet and win of the year. On 11 June 2024, she made her 50th regular-season appearance for Angel City against Bay FC, becoming the first player to reach that milestone for the club. On 10 December 2024, Angel City announced that Haračić would not return for 2025 and would become a free agent. At the time of her departure, she led Angel City with 62 all-time regular-season appearances and ranked second across all competitions.
San Diego Wave Era (2025–Present)
On 20 January 2025, Haračić signed a one-year contract with fellow Californian club San Diego Wave FC. She debuted for the Wave on 21 September 2025, playing the full match in a 1–1 draw with the Portland Thorns.
Her first season in San Diego saw limited starts as former Gotham FC teammate Kailen Sheridan took the majority of minutes. Even so, Haračić’s presence provided experienced depth in goal.
