Early Life and Background

Carter James Jensen was born in Kansas City, Missouri, where he grew up surrounded by a rich sports culture. He attended Park Hill High School in Kansas City, where he excelled in baseball. As a senior in 2021, Jensen showcased his talent by hitting .387, along with one home run and 25 runs batted in (RBIs). His performance caught the attention of college scouts, leading him to commit to play college baseball at Louisiana State University.

Path to Baseball

Jensen’s journey to professional baseball began when he was selected by the Kansas City Royals in the third round of the 2021 Major League Baseball draft, with the 78th overall pick. After signing with the Royals, he made his professional debut with the Arizona Complex League Royals, where he hit .281 over 19 games. His early career was marked by significant achievements, including All-Star honors during his time with the Single-A Columbia Fireflies in 2022.

After his debut in the Arizona Complex League, Jensen continued to develop his skills in the minor leagues. In 2022, he played with the Columbia Fireflies, where he batted .226 with 11 home runs and 50 RBIs over 113 games. The following year, he spent time with the High-A Quad Cities River Bandits, hitting .211 with 11 home runs and 45 RBIs. In 2024, Jensen was promoted to the Double-A Northwest Arkansas Naturals, where he had a breakout season, compiling a .259 batting average with 18 home runs and 67 RBIs.

Jensen’s performance earned him a selection to represent the Royals at the 2025 All-Star Futures Game, highlighting his potential as a rising star in the organization. He began the 2025 season with Northwest Arkansas before being promoted to the Triple-A Omaha Storm Chasers in June.

Breakthrough (2025)

On September 1, 2025, Carter Jensen received the call-up to the major leagues, marking a significant milestone in his career. He made his MLB debut the following night at Kauffman Stadium against the Los Angeles Angels, where he faced veteran pitcher Kenley Jansen as a pinch hitter. Jensen recorded his first MLB hit on September 6, achieving an RBI double against Thomas Hatch of the Minnesota Twins.

Jensen’s breakout moment came on September 16, 2025, when he hit his first two MLB home runs against the Seattle Mariners. In a standout performance, he went 3-for-4 with two home runs and three RBIs. Just a few days later, on September 19, he made history by becoming the first Royals player to record two doubles in the first inning of a game.
