Christopher Brooks is an American professional football running back for the Green Bay Packers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the California Golden Bears and BYU Cougars. Born on January 11, 2000, in Oceanside, California, Brooks attended El Camino High School, where he was a standout athlete. After high school, he played at the University of California, Berkeley, before transferring to Brigham Young University for the 2022 season. In 2023, he entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Miami Dolphins and later joined the Green Bay Packers.

Christopher Brooks was born to Christopher Brown Sr. and Raquel Brooks in Oceanside, California. He attended El Camino High School, where he excelled in athletics, earning recognition as a four-star recruit by 247Sports and ranking as the 12th best running back in California. In addition to football, he participated in the school’s track and field team, qualifying for the California State Meet in the long jump during his senior year in 2018.

Path to American Football

After high school, Brooks began his collegiate football career at the University of California, Berkeley. As a true freshman, he participated in all 13 games, stepping up as the primary running back in the 2018 Cheez-It Bowl after an injury to the starter. His performance included 71 all-purpose yards on 14 carries and three receptions. In his sophomore year, he achieved career highs with 208 carries, 914 rushing yards, and eight rushing touchdowns. However, injuries limited his appearances in 2020. In his senior season, Brooks rushed for 607 yards and six touchdowns, averaging a career-best 5.2 yards per carry before entering the transfer portal in December 2021.

Early Career (2018–2021)

During his time at the University of California, Brooks made significant contributions to the Golden Bears football team. His early career was marked by impressive statistics, including a standout sophomore season where he achieved notable rushing and receiving numbers. After transferring to Brigham Young University for the 2022 season, he continued to excel, averaging 6.28 yards per carry, which ranks among the best in BYU history. His performance against Stanford, where he rushed for 164 yards, highlighted his capabilities as a running back.

Breakthrough (2023–Present)

Christopher Brooks signed with the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent on April 29, 2023. He made the Dolphins’ final roster but faced challenges, including an injury that placed him on injured reserve. He was activated later in December 2023. Following his release from the Dolphins in September 2024, Brooks was signed by the Green Bay Packers to their practice squad. He was promoted to the active roster shortly after, and in Week 16 against the New Orleans Saints, he scored his first career touchdown on a one-yard rush. In his first season with the Packers, he played in 15 games, rushing 36 times for 183 yards and recording 11 receptions for 69 yards.
