Prior to playing for Minnesota United, St. Clair was a two-year starter for the Maryland Terrapins men’s soccer program. With Maryland, he was the starting goalkeeper for their national championship run, where he earned the NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Tournament Most Outstanding Player for the best defensive soccer player in the national tournament.

Dayne St. Clair was born in Pickering, Ontario, Canada, to a Trinidadian father and a Scottish Canadian mother. He began playing soccer at the age of three with the Epiphany Church Soccer League and joined North Scarborough SC at age four. Throughout his youth, he played for several clubs including Pickering SC, Ajax SC, and Vaughan Azzurri, where he helped the team win a League1 Ontario title. St. Clair also played high school soccer for Notre Dame Catholic Secondary School and represented Canada at the under-18 level.
