Duncan MacAllister McGuire (born February 5, 2001) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a forward for Major League Soccer club Orlando City and the United States national team. A Creighton Bluejays alumni, McGuire was picked by Major League Soccer club Orlando City in the first round of the 2023 MLS SuperDraft. Prior to being drafted, McGuire had played a single season with USL League Two team Lane United.
Early Life and Background
Duncan McGuire was born in Omaha, Nebraska. He attended Creighton Preparatory School, where he excelled in soccer and was recognized as a two-time Omaha World-Herald All-Nebraska First Team selection in 2018 and 2019. He also participated in the 2019 Nebraska High School Soccer Senior Showcase, showcasing his talent at a young age. Growing up, McGuire played club soccer for Elkhorn SC, which helped him develop his skills and passion for the sport.
Path to Soccer
After years of dedication to soccer, Duncan McGuire committed to playing college soccer at Creighton University. He played for the Creighton Bluejays from 2019 to 2022, redshirting his freshman year in 2019. His collegiate debut came on February 20, 2021, against the Marquette Golden Eagles. McGuire quickly made an impact, appearing in all 12 matches that season and earning All-Big East Second Team honors. His breakout year came in 2022 when he scored 23 goals, setting a new single-season record for the Bluejays and earning multiple accolades, including the Hermann Trophy.

Duncan McGuire began his professional career with Lane United in the USL League Two in 2022. He made his debut in the first game of the season and scored his first goal shortly thereafter. Over the course of the season, he contributed four goals and three assists in 11 appearances, showcasing his potential as a forward.
Breakthrough (2023)
McGuire’s career took a significant turn when he was selected by Orlando City in the first round of the 2023 MLS SuperDraft. He officially joined the team on February 22, 2023, and made an immediate impact by scoring his first professional goal in his debut against D.C. United on March 11. Throughout the season, he continued to impress, scoring a total of 15 goals across all competitions, making him the club’s top goalscorer.
