Born on October 18, 1999, in Lansing, Michigan, he moved to Dublin, Ohio, at an early age. He enjoyed a successful youth career with the Columbus Crew academy and later played college soccer at Cornell University, where he served as team captain and earned multiple accolades. Emeka made his professional debut in Major League Soccer in 2023 and continues to develop his career in the league.

Early Life and Background

Emeka Eneli was born in Lansing, Michigan, but moved to Dublin, Ohio, when he was eight years old. He attended Dublin Coffman High School, where he played one year of varsity soccer. During his youth career, he played with the Columbus Crew academy from 2012 to 2017, showcasing his talent and dedication to the sport. He later spent a season with Ohio Premier, helping the team secure the ENPL national title in 2018 and earning recognition as an ECNL All-American and ECNL All-Midwest team member.

In 2018, Emeka Eneli began his collegiate journey at Cornell University, where he graduated in 2022 with a major in Biological Engineering and a minor in Business. Throughout his college soccer career, he served as team captain during his junior and senior years. Over four seasons with the Cornell Big Red, which spanned five years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Eneli made 60 appearances, scoring 20 goals and providing 17 assists. His impressive performance earned him several accolades, including All-Ivy League First Team honors in 2021 and Second Team All-American recognition in 2022.

Early Career (2019–2022)

Emeka Eneli began his professional career in 2019 with Lionsbridge FC, where he played for two seasons, scoring three goals in 16 appearances. In 2022, he joined Flint City Bucks, making 16 appearances and netting four goals along with an assist. His performances in the USL League Two helped him gain visibility, leading to his eligibility for the 2023 MLS SuperDraft.

Breakthrough (2023–Present)

Eneli was drafted by Real Salt Lake with the 25th pick of the first round in the 2023 MLS SuperDraft. He made his Major League Soccer debut on March 25, 2023, starting in a match against St. Louis City SC. Emeka scored his first career MLS goal on March 9, 2024, during a match against the Colorado Rapids. On November 2, 2024, he scored a crucial equalizer in the MLS Cup Playoffs against Minnesota United, which led to a penalty shootout, although Real Salt Lake ultimately lost the match.
