Erik Černák Bio
Erik Černák (born 28 May 1997) is a Slovak professional ice hockey defenceman for the Tampa Bay Lightning of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected by the Los Angeles Kings in the second round, 43rd overall, in the 2015 NHL entry draft. Černák won back-to-back Stanley Cup championships with the Lightning in 2020 and 2021.
Early Life and Background
Erik Černák was born in Košice, Slovakia. He began his journey in ice hockey at a young age, showing promise early in his youth career. Černák initially played for HC Košice before spending a season with the junior team of Slovan Bratislava. He returned to HC Košice’s youth team in June 2013, where he continued to develop his skills.
Path to Hockey
Černák made his senior professional debut with HC Košice during the 2013–14 season. He split that season between HC Košice and the Slovakian national junior under-20 team, Orange 20.
