Gabe McGlothan grew up in Gilbert, Arizona, where he developed an early passion for basketball. He attended Basha High School, where he began to showcase his talent on the court. During his time at Basha, he averaged 11.1 points and 8.2 rebounds in the 2015-2016 season, improving to 14.2 points and 9.4 rebounds in the following season, which helped his team secure a state championship. After his time at Basha, McGlothan transferred to Putnam Science Academy in Putnam, Connecticut, where he continued to excel in basketball, playing 42 games and contributing to his team’s victory in the 2017-2018 National Prep Championship.
Path to Basketball
Following his high school success, Gabe McGlothan began his college basketball career with the Southeast Missouri State Redhawks. He made an immediate impact, starting 11 of the final 12 games of his freshman season and shooting an impressive 55.1 percent from the field in those games. After one season, he transferred to Grand Canyon University, where he redshirted his first season. Under the guidance of head coach Bryce Drew, McGlothan played four seasons with the Antelopes, helping the team achieve a cumulative record of 94-32 and making three NCAA tournament appearances. In his final season, he averaged 12.8 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game, leading the Antelopes to their first NCAA Division I tournament victory.
