Gregory O’Neill Stroman Jr., known professionally as Greg Stroman, is an American professional football cornerback. Born on March 8, 1996, in Warrenton, Virginia, Stroman developed into a playmaker on both defense and special teams during his college career at Virginia Tech. He was selected by the Washington Redskins in the seventh round, 241st overall, of the 2018 NFL Draft and has spent time with several franchises across the league. He most recently played for the New York Giants of the National Football League.
Early Life and Background
Stroman grew up in Bristow, Virginia, and attended Stonewall Jackson High School in Manassas, Virginia. At Stonewall Jackson, he earned first-team 6A All-State recognition as one of the top high school players in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Rated as a three-star recruit, Stroman received scholarship offers from several programs, including Campbell, Duke, Norfolk State, Old Dominion, UMass, Virginia, and Wisconsin. His rookie production was enough to secure his role heading into his second season.
On September 10, 2019, Stroman was waived and injured by the Redskins, and he reverted to the team’s injured reserve list the next day. He returned to play in a few games during the 2020 season before being placed on injured reserve again on October 16, 2020. He was released by Washington on August 17, 2021, ending his time with the organization after three seasons.
Buffalo Bills and Los Angeles Rams Era (2021)
Following his release from Washington, Stroman joined the practice squad of the Buffalo Bills on December 2, 2021. On December 16, 2021, Stroman was signed to the practice squad of the Los Angeles Rams. He was released by the Rams on December 28, 2021, again without a regular-season appearance.
