Hunter Sallis Bio
Hunter Amon Sallis (born March 26, 2003) is an American professional basketball player for the Philadelphia 76ers of the National Basketball Association (NBA), on a two-way contract with the Delaware Blue Coats of the NBA G League. He played college basketball for the Gonzaga Bulldogs and Wake Forest Demon Deacons. Sallis has made a name for himself as a talented shooting guard, showcasing his skills at both the collegiate and professional levels.
Early Life and Background
Hunter Sallis was born in Omaha, Nebraska, where he began his journey in basketball. He attended Millard North High School, where he initially struggled to secure a spot on the middle school basketball team but eventually earned a position on the varsity team as a freshman. His early experiences in basketball were marked by a nickname, “Bambi,” due to his lack of coordination at the time. As he progressed through high school, Sallis developed into a formidable player, averaging 22.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game during his senior year. He led Millard North to its first Class A state title in 2021 and finished with 1,819 career points, ranking third in Class A history.
Path to Basketball
Sallis’s talent did not go unnoticed, as he was named to prestigious rosters, including the McDonald’s All-American Game, Jordan Brand Classic, and Nike Hoop Summit. He was rated a five-star recruit by ESPN and 247Sports, making him the first five-star basketball recruit in Nebraska history. On March 26, 2021, he committed to play college basketball for Gonzaga University, choosing the Bulldogs over offers from North Carolina and Creighton.

Sallis’s time at Wake Forest proved to be a turning point. He had several standout performances, including scoring 24 points and providing 4 assists in a victory against Florida on November 29, 2023. He continued to build on this success with multiple games scoring over 20 points, including a career-high 33 points against NC State on February 10, 2024. His consistent performance earned him recognition as a two-time First-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) player in 2024 and 2025.
