He attended Riverside High School in Durham, where he was recognized as a three-star prospect and ranked as the 13th-best player in the state by 247Sports. His impressive high school performance led him to commit to play college football for the North Carolina Tar Heels, choosing them over several other offers.
Path to American Football
As a true freshman at the University of North Carolina in 2017, Jordon Riley appeared in five games and recorded six tackles. The following year, he redshirted, allowing him to develop his skills further. In 2019, he transferred to Garden City Community College, where he played nine games and posted 26 tackles, 3.5 tackles-for-loss, and two sacks in his only year there. In 2020, he moved to the Nebraska Cornhuskers, playing six games that season. In 2021, he appeared in 10 games for Nebraska, tallying seven tackles with one tackle-for-loss, and earned a spot on the conference all-academic team. Seeking more playing time, he transferred to the Oregon Ducks for his final season in 2022, where he started all 13 games and made 21 tackles, 1.5 tackles-for-loss, a pass breakup, and a half-sack.
