Early Life and Background
Justin Hryckowian was born on February 23, 2001, in L’Île-Bizard, Quebec, Canada, to parents Wojtek Hryckowian and Tina Dandurand. He began playing ice hockey at the age of two, practicing with his brother Dylan on outdoor ice rinks. Hryckowian played minor ice hockey with the Lac St-Louis Lions of the Quebec Midget AAA Hockey League, where he recorded an impressive 34 goals and 75 points in just 40 games during the 2017–18 season. His outstanding performance earned him several accolades, including the Outstanding Player Award and the Patrice Bergeron Trophy for the most gentlemanly player. Rather than continuing onto the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Hryckowian opted to pursue his career in the United States. He attended the Salisbury School for one year before joining the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders of the United States Hockey League (USHL). During the 2020–21 season, he was dispersed to the Sioux City Musketeers due to severe damage caused by a derecho to ImOn Ice Arena in Cedar Rapids. Hryckowian had a breakout season as the Musketeers’ captain, scoring 17 goals and finishing with 38 points in 44 games.
Path to Hockey
Hryckowian joined the Northeastern Huskies for the 2021–22 season, where he made an immediate impact. He scored his first college ice hockey goal on October 26, 2021, in a game against the UConn Huskies. In his rookie season, he appeared in 24 games, leading all Northeastern freshmen with six goals and 20 points, earning a spot on the Hockey East All-Rookie Team. The following season, Hryckowian achieved his first hat-trick in a game against the New Hampshire Wildcats and was named the Hockey East Player of the Month for November after an impressive performance. He finished the 2022–23 season with 14 goals and 29 points, receiving honors as the Hockey East Best Defensive Forward and a place on the All-Hockey East Second Team. In his final college season, he was named captain of the Huskies and continued to excel, recording his 100th career point and leading his team with 13 goals and 42 points in 32 games.

Early Career (2021–2024)
Hryckowian’s professional career began when he signed a two-year entry-level contract with the Dallas Stars on March 20, 2024. He spent the remainder of the 2023–24 season with the Texas Stars, the American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Dallas Stars, on an amateur tryout contract. In 12 regular season games, he scored one goal and three points, and contributed two goals and four points in seven postseason games. Hryckowian opened the 2024–25 season with the Texas Stars, leading all AHL rookies with 26 points in his first 27 games, including 12 goals. He made his NHL debut on December 30, 2024, after being called up due to an injury to Mason Marchment. In his debut, he played six minutes in a game against the Chicago Blackhawks. Hryckowian ultimately appeared in five games for the Dallas Stars that season and registered his first NHL point on January 20, 2025, assisting on a goal by Matěj Blümel. He spent the majority of the season in the AHL, where he led all rookies in scoring with 60 points in 67 games.
