Kyle Bradish Bio
Kyle Edward Bradish (born September 12, 1996) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles of Major League Baseball (MLB). A right-handed starter known for his swing-and-miss stuff, Bradish made his MLB debut in 2022 and has emerged as a frontline arm for the Orioles. He wears jersey number 38 for Baltimore.
Bradish was originally selected by the Los Angeles Angels in the 2018 MLB Draft before being traded to Baltimore in December 2019. After working his way through the minor leagues, he broke into the majors in 2022 and quickly established himself as one of the most promising young pitchers in the American League.
Early Life and Background
Kyle Edward Bradish grew up in the Phoenix metropolitan area and attended Millennium High School in Goodyear, Arizona. As a senior in 2015, he batted .308 while striking out 78 batters over 43+1/3 innings on the mound. Despite his strong senior season, Bradish went unselected in the 2015 Major League Baseball draft.
Rather than give up on his baseball dream, Bradish chose to attend New Mexico State University, where he played college baseball for the New Mexico State Aggies. The move proved pivotal, as it allowed him to develop against high-level college competition and showcase his potential to professional scouts.
Path to Baseball
At New Mexico State, Bradish blossomed into one of the top college arms in the country. As a freshman in 2016, he appeared in 17 games with 15 starts, going 8–3 with a 4.67 ERA and striking out a team-high 82 batters over 86+2/3 innings. In 2017, his sophomore season, he went 8–2 with a 3.20 ERA and was named to the Western Athletic Conference First-Team.
That summer, Bradish played for the Falmouth Commodores of the Cape Cod Baseball League and earned All-Star honors. As a junior in 2018, he went 9–3 with a 2.67 ERA over 17 starts and was named to the All-WAC Team for the second straight season. His college performance led the Los Angeles Angels to select him in the fourth round of the 2018 MLB Draft, and he signed with the team to begin his professional career.

Early Career (2019–2021)
Bradish made his professional debut in 2019 with the Inland Empire 66ers of the High-A California League. He went 6–7 with a 4.28 ERA over 24 games (18 starts) and earned All-Star honors in his first professional season. His promising start suggested a bright future in the Angels organization.
On December 4, 2019, however, the Angels traded Bradish, along with Zach Peek, Isaac Mattson, and Kyle Brnovich, to the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for Dylan Bundy. Bradish did not appear in a game in 2020 due to the cancellation of the minor league season caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. He returned in 2021, opening the year with the Bowie Baysox of the Double-A Northeast before being promoted to the Norfolk Tides of Triple-A East, where he went 5–5 with a 4.26 ERA and 105 strikeouts over 86+2/3 innings.
Baltimore Orioles (2022–Present)
On November 19, 2021, the Orioles selected Bradish’s contract and added him to their 40-man roster to protect him from the Rule 5 draft. He opened 2022 back at Norfolk, but on April 29, 2022, Baltimore promoted him to the majors to make his MLB debut as the starting pitcher against the Boston Red Sox. He allowed two earned runs over six innings, and on May 10, he earned his first career win against the St. Louis Cardinals, at one point retiring 11 consecutive batters.
Bradish’s 2022 season was a study in growth. He finished with a 4–7 record and a 4.90 ERA, but his 3.28 ERA after the All-Star break signaled a turning point. On September 22, 2022, he allowed just two hits to the Houston Astros over 8+2/3 innings in a 2–0 shutout, striking out 10 in the longest outing of his professional career to that point.
In 2023, Bradish emerged as the ace of the Orioles’ rotation. He finished the regular season with a 12–7 record in 30 starts, pitching 168+2/3 innings with 168 strikeouts. His 2.83 ERA ranked fourth in the Majors and his 1.04 WHIP was third-best in the league. On February 15, 2024, general manager Mike Elias announced that Bradish had been diagnosed with a sprain in the ulnar collateral ligament of his right elbow and would begin the season on the injured list. On June 19, it was announced that Bradish had undergone Tommy John surgery, ending his 2024 season.
On August 26, 2025, Bradish was activated from the injured list to make his season debut and return from surgery. He earned his first win in 15 months in a 4–1 away victory over the Chicago White Sox on September 15, his fourth start since returning from the injured list.
