Ozzy Wiesblatt is a Canadian professional ice hockey right winger for the Nashville Predators of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was drafted in the first round, 31st overall, by the San Jose Sharks in the 2020 NHL entry draft. He made his NHL debut with the Predators in January 2025.
Early Life and Background
Ozzy Wiesblatt was born on March 9, 2002, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, to parents Kimberly White and Art Wiesblatt. He spent part of his childhood in Kelowna, British Columbia, before returning to Calgary in 2013. Growing up in a family where both parents are deaf, Wiesblatt and his siblings learned American Sign Language to communicate effectively. His family background has played a significant role in shaping his character and approach to life.
Path to Hockey
Wiesblatt began his hockey journey with the Calgary Bisons U15 AAA team in the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League. He showcased his talent early on, recording an impressive 38 goals and 35 assists in just 32 games during the 2016–17 season. Despite being drafted 25th overall into the Western Hockey League (WHL), he continued to play with the Calgary Bisons U18 team, where he earned a spot on Team Alberta for the 2017 WHL Cup. As he entered his draft-eligible year, Wiesblatt ranked 19th among North American skaters in the NHL Central Scouting Bureau’s Midterm Rankings.
