Early Life and Background

Peter Stroud was born in Chester Township, New Jersey. He attended Laurel Springs School and began his soccer journey at a young age, playing with the Player Development Academy at the under-8 level. Stroud joined the New York Red Bulls academy at the under-12 level, where he honed his skills for three seasons before moving to England at the age of sixteen to join West Ham United. During his time in England, he played for both the U18 and U23 sides, gaining valuable experience in competitive soccer.

Path to Soccer

After his stint in England, Peter Stroud returned to the United States and enrolled at Duke University to play college soccer. Over three seasons with the Duke Blue Devils, he made 56 appearances, scoring six goals and providing twelve assists. His outstanding performance earned him numerous accolades, including All-ACC Third Team and ACC All-Freshman Team in his freshman year, and back-to-back ACC Midfielder of the Year awards in 2021 and 2022, making him the first player in Atlantic Coast Conference history to achieve this feat.

Stroud began his professional career in 2021 with New York Red Bulls U23, where he made ten appearances. He then played for Tobacco Road FC in 2022, where he was recognized as the top USL League Two prospect and named to the 2022 All-League Team. His successful college career and performance in the USL League Two set the stage for his transition to Major League Soccer.

Breakthrough (2023–Present)

On January 14, 2023, Peter Stroud signed a homegrown player contract with New York Red Bulls through to 2025. He made his professional debut on February 25, 2023, coming on as a substitute in a match against Orlando City. Stroud quickly established himself in the Red Bulls’ midfield, starting the first eight matches of the 2024 season. Unfortunately, his progress was hindered by a left ankle injury that required surgery, sidelining him for a significant period.
