Abdurrahman ‘Rock’ ibn Ramadan Ya-Sin is an American professional football cornerback for the Detroit Lions of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Presbyterian Blue Hose, before transferring to the Temple Owls. He was selected by the Indianapolis Colts in the second round of the 2019 NFL draft.

Early Life and Background

Abdurrahman Ya-Sin was born on May 23, 1996, in Decatur, Georgia. He attended Southwest DeKalb High School, where he was a two-star recruit. Committed to Presbyterian College on February 5, 2015, he began his football journey in a program that later transitioned to a non-scholarship conference.

Path to American Football

After his time at Presbyterian, Ya-Sin transferred to Temple University mid-year, where he made a significant impact on the football team. During his college career, he recorded 44 tackles, two tackles-for-loss, two interceptions, and 12 pass breakups, showcasing his skills as a cornerback. His performance earned him a spot in the 2019 Senior Bowl, further elevating his profile ahead of the NFL draft.

Early Career (2019-2021)

Ya-Sin was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the second round as the 34th overall pick in the 2019 NFL draft. He made an immediate impact, recording his first career interception in Week 11 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. His outstanding performance during his rookie season earned him a place on Pro Football Focus’ All-Rookie Team.

Breakthrough (2022-2025)

In March 2022, Ya-Sin was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders, where he played in 11 games, starting nine and recording 45 tackles and seven passes defensed. He then signed a one-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens in May 2023. Following a brief stint with the Ravens, he joined the San Francisco 49ers in April 2024. As of March 20, 2025, Ya-Sin is a member of the Detroit Lions, continuing to build his career in the NFL.
