Taelon Joseph Peter was born on February 27, 2002, in Russellville, Arkansas. He attended Russellville High School, where he excelled in both basketball and track and field, particularly as a high jumper. During his high school career, he won two state championships, one in high jump and another in basketball, averaging 16 points per game as a senior. His impressive performance earned him all-state honors in track and field and recognition as the Class 5A West Player of the Year, as well as the River Valley Now Player of the Year in basketball.

After high school, Taelon Peter signed to play college basketball at Tennessee Tech in 2020. However, his freshman year was limited to just six games.
