Taelon Joseph Peter is an American professional basketball player for the Indiana Pacers of the National Basketball Association (NBA), on a two-way contract with the Noblesville Boom of the NBA G League. He played college basketball for the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles, Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys, and Liberty Flames. He was selected by the Pacers in the second round of the 2025 NBA draft.

Early Life and Background

Taelon Joseph Peter was born on February 27, 2002, in Russellville, Arkansas. He attended Russellville High School, where he excelled in both basketball and track and field, particularly as a high jumper. During his high school career, he won two state championships, one in high jump and another in basketball, averaging 16 points per game as a senior. His impressive performance earned him all-state honors in track and field and recognition as the Class 5A West Player of the Year, as well as the River Valley Now Player of the Year in basketball.

Path to Basketball

After high school, Taelon Peter signed to play college basketball at Tennessee Tech in 2020. However, his freshman year was limited to just six games. He then transferred to Arkansas Tech University, where he began to make a name for himself. In his first season with the Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys, he averaged 10 points while coming off the bench. By his second season, he became a starter, averaging 15.5 points per game and showcasing his scoring ability. In 2023-24, he achieved significant recognition as the Great American Conference (GAC) Player of the Year and was named to the first-team All-GAC after averaging 18.5 points and starting every game for the Wonder Boys. After completing three successful years at Arkansas Tech, he transferred to Liberty University for his final year of eligibility.
