Early Life and Background

Troy Hill was born in Ventura, California, where he attended St. Bonaventure High School. During his time there, he played as a defensive back and wide receiver, contributing to a team that achieved an impressive 11–2 record in his senior season. However, all those wins were later forfeited due to Hill’s ineligibility. Despite this setback, he earned several high school honors, including being named to the All-Channel League First-Team Defense in 2009 and receiving a three-star rating from Scout.com. After high school, Hill continued his education and football career at the University of Oregon. At Oregon, Hill made a significant impact as a defensive back. As a junior, he was the fifth-leading tackler among the defensive backs, finishing the year with 29 tackles. In his senior year, he became a key player, starting all 14 games and ranking second in the Pac-12 Conference in passes defended. His performance earned him a second-team All-Pac-12 selection. However, his college career was marred by an arrest in 2013 for menacing, which led to a temporary suspension from the team.
