Ty Mueller is a Canadian professional ice hockey centre, born on February 26, 2003, in Cochrane, Alberta. He currently plays for the Abbotsford Canucks of the American Hockey League (AHL) under contract with the Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League (NHL). Early Life and Background
Mueller was raised in Cochrane, Alberta, by his parents Jamie and Steve. His younger brother, Colton, also played ice hockey, contributing to a household where the sport was a central focus. After helping Team Central win the Alberta Cup, he led the Airdrie Xtreme to an AMBHL championship and was selected for the 2018 U15 World Selects Invitational in Philadelphia.
Following the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft, in which he was selected by the Prince George Cougars, Mueller spent the 2018–19 season with the Airdrie CFR Bisons U18 AAA in the Alberta Midget Hockey League and appeared in two games with the Okotoks Oilers of the AJHL. During his time with the Sherwood Park Crusaders, Mueller recorded 30 points across 50 games in his first AJHL season and was recognized as a top NHL prospect on the Central Scouting Bureau’s Players to Watch list. The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the 2020–21 season, but he still managed to score eight goals and three assists in limited action and was named team MVP.
University of Nebraska Omaha Era (2021–2024)
Mueller committed to play collegiate ice hockey with the Omaha Mavericks at the University of Nebraska Omaha, where he majored in business. By February 2025, Mueller led all Abbotsford rookies with 15 assists and 22 points. At 21 years, 11 months, and 8 days old, he became the youngest player in franchise history to represent the Abbotsford Canucks at an AHL All-Star Game.
