Carson Hocevar Signs Long-Term Extension with Spire Motorsports

Following an impressive performance in the Cook Out Clash on Wednesday night, Carson Hocevar announced on Thursday that he has signed a long-term contract extension with Spire Motorsports. The 23-year-old driver will continue racing the No. 77 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 under Spire’s banner well into the coming decade, a move that underscores the team’s confidence in his potential and future contributions.

Hocevar’s extension guarantees his presence in the NASCAR Cup Series alongside Spire Motorsports, solidifying his role as a key figure in the team’s plans. The news was officially released in a statement by Spire Motorsports, emphasizing a shared vision for growth and competition.

Hocevar’s Rising Profile in NASCAR’s Premier Series

Since advancing to the NASCAR Cup Series, Hocevar has demonstrated resilience and skill, earning recognition as the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series Rookie of the Year. In his initial full season, he achieved two second-place finishes, secured nine Top 10 placements, and claimed his first pole position on the senior circuit.

His performance last year has set high expectations for the upcoming seasons, particularly looking toward 2026, as Spire Motorsports envisions Hocevar as a cornerstone of the team’s competitive efforts moving forward.

“This shows we’re all committed and eager to race with each other for a long time.”

He described his relationship with crew chief Luke Lambert, spotter Tyler Green, team president Bill Anthony, and other members of the No. 77 crew as familial, explaining,

“I think of Jeff (Dickerson) as a father figure, but the same could be said for Luke (Lambert), Tyler (Green), Bill (Anthony), and all the No. 77 guys.”

Continuing, he shared,

“Everyone in the building has really become a family to me. Spire is such a different team now compared to how it was my rookie season, and especially when I made my debut in 2023. It’s fun to know I’m going to be around the Cup garage for a long time, and really a dream come true.”

Challenges Faced During Hocevar’s Career so Far

Despite his on-track competitiveness, Hocevar’s tenure in the Cup Series has not been without controversy. Last year, he received a $50,000 fine for making derogatory comments about Mexico City, reflecting one of several incidents that have drawn criticism. Additionally, he was penalized $50,000 for reckless driving that endangered safety crews during a race.

Hocevar has also had public disagreements with fellow drivers, most notably with Ricky Stenhouse Jr., adding complexity to his journey within the series. Nevertheless, Spire Motorsports remains confident in Hocevar’s ability to mature and contribute significantly to the team’s future success.

Spire Motorsports Expresses Strong Support for Hocevar

Co-owner Jeff Dickerson highlighted the importance of securing Hocevar’s talents for multiple years.

“It’s a pretty big moment for our company to announce an extension with Carson that takes us out for multiple years,”

he said.

“It’s not just about knowing he’ll be here with us for the long haul, but it gives our sponsors and competition group the foresight to make their own plans knowing he’s in the seat of the No. 77 as far as we can see.”

Dickerson also revealed the personal connection he has formed with Hocevar:

“It has been an absolutely rewarding experience getting to know Carson and watching him grow up, and learn from the good and bad both at and away from the racetrack. I love him like a son and it means a great deal to me, personally, knowing he’ll be here for several years. I expect this announcement could test the effectiveness of my blood pressure medication, so I’ve alerted my physician and he may have to adjust the dosage appropriately but, it’ll be worth it.”

Looking Ahead: What the Extension Means for NASCAR

Carson Hocevar’s long-term commitment to Spire Motorsports marks a significant step for both the driver and the team, providing stability and a foundation for future growth. As Hocevar continues to develop his skills and navigate the challenges of the Cup Series, this partnership positions Spire to compete confidently in coming seasons while offering sponsors and fans a familiar and promising presence in the No. 77 car.

With Hocevar poised to remain a prominent figure in NASCAR’s elite level, his journey will be closely watched as he aims to fulfill the potential that both he and Spire Motorsports have recognized in their shared future.
