Austin Dillon Eyes Multiple NASCAR Wins in 2026 Season

Austin Dillon, a long-standing driver for Richard Childress Racing, aims to secure multiple NASCAR wins in the 2026 season, building on his past experience in the series. Despite six career victories from 435 starts and a best season finish of 11th place in 2017, 2020, and 2022, Dillon believes the revised format presents new opportunities for success.

Dillon’s optimism is rooted in his performance during earlier Chase formats, where he earned championships in both the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and the Xfinity Series. His 2011 Truck Series title included two wins and nine top-five finishes across 25 races. In 2013, he claimed the Xfinity title without winning a race but remained consistently front-running with 13 top-five and 22 top-10 finishes.

Gaining Confidence Through Consistency and New Format Advantages

Speaking on The Backstretch Podcast, Dillon outlined the importance of consistency and speed in contending for victories at the Cup level. He said,

“My two championships come from being consistent. I think the biggest thing at the cup level is you got to have the speed and the performance behind you. That helps the consistency part of it. And I think we’ve learned a lot from stage racing that you have to stay aggressive to be able to gain stage points.”

Highlighting his immediate goals, Dillon added,

“So, one focus or emphasis for us is to gain more stage points this year. But for me personally, the goal is to win multiple races this year. If I could get two wins in a season, that would mean a lot to me. Um, we’ve been able to win one a lot of different seasons throughout my career, but I’d like to win two,”

emphasizing greater ambition for the season ahead.

Finishing 15th in last year’s overall standings, Dillon’s lone victory came late in the regular season at Richmond, where he also enjoyed success in 2024. His season included five top-10 finishes but no further top-five placements beyond that win.

Team Improvements and New Equipment Spark Optimism

The previous season revealed challenges for Richard Childress Racing, with team owner Richard Childress vocalizing frustration over inconsistent performances from both Dillon and teammate Kyle Busch. After a disappointing showing at Dover, where neither driver reached the top 10, Childress expressed his concerns bluntly,

“Gotta get some race cars. We are in trouble. Period.”

This candor reflects the urgency to return to competitiveness.

Dillon remains hopeful due to the stability within the team and new technical developments. He pointed to the return of familiar crew members and the introduction of a new Chevrolet body for the 2026 season as key factors that could enhance performance. He sees this year as an opportunity for Richard Childress Racing to reset expectations and improve results starting with Daytona.

Looking Ahead to a Competitive and Promising Season

With a determined mindset and experience in clutch moments throughout his career, Austin Dillon’s focus on winning multiple races signals a renewed drive in NASCAR’s evolving competitive landscape. The combination of his proven consistency, team continuity, and upgraded equipment could make 2026 a breakthrough season for the Richard Childress Racing driver. Fans and analysts alike will watch closely to see if Dillon can translate his goals into tangible victories, elevating his status in the NASCAR Cup Series.
