HAMPTON, Ga. — Rajah Caruth showcased impressive speed in his first start driving the JR Motorsports No. 88 Chevrolet, earning a career-best 10th-place finish and his first top-10 in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series. Although Caruth is competing in only 23 of the season‘s 33 races, his performance in Daytona has elevated his confidence heading into this weekend’s race at EchoPark Speedway.
Caruth’s Experience Shapes His Approach to EchoPark Speedway
The 23-year-old driver, who has two NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series victories under his belt, returns to competition at the 1.54-mile track this Saturday at 5 p.m. ET. He draws on lessons learned during prior races, including a fall appearance at EchoPark where he was not consistently in the top-10. The experience from Daytona has given Caruth clarity about running up front in an O’Reilly Auto Parts Series car on a drafting track.
Greater Speed and Confidence from Team Improvements
Caruth expressed optimism about the progress of his JR Motorsports team, noting improvements in vehicle performance and competitiveness. He pointed out how Hendrick Motorsports and JR Motorsports have narrowed the gap to Richard Childress Racing (RCR) vehicles. Despite some setbacks during the Daytona race, the strong finishing position underscored their potential. Caruth is confident that his team can challenge for a top result at EchoPark this weekend.
Checked some boxes or maybe answered some questions I had about really running up front in an O’Reilly [Auto Parts Series] car,

It was great. Unfortunately got caught up in some other folks’ mess but to finish in the top-10 was great and really showed how fast all our cars were and how much the work at Hendrick Motorsports shop and JRM closed the gap to the RCR cars. I felt like we could take the fight to them last weekend. Didn’t work out obviously, but I’m very confident going into this weekend that one of us can get the job done.
