Shane van Gisbergen Edges Austin Hill for COTA Win

The NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series raced at the Circuit of the Americas on Saturday afternoon during the Focused Health 250, where Shane van Gisbergen secured a narrow win. Starting second, van Gisbergen took the lead early and held off a late challenge from Austin Hill to capture his fifth series victory and his first at this venue.

Race Progress and Key Moments

Connor Zilisch began the race on pole and led the opening laps before van Gisbergen briefly overtook him. Zilisch regained pace and maintained the front position for 12 laps. Both drivers headed to pit road near the end of the first stage, which Austin Hill won. Sam Mayer took the win in the second stage as the competition intensified.

Brake problems hindered Zilisch in the final stage, leading to a crash with three laps remaining that dropped him to 21st place. Van Gisbergen led a race-high 31 of the 65 laps and narrowly finished 0.78 seconds ahead of Hill. The race featured 16 lead changes and four caution periods totaling 12 laps.

Top Finishers and Upcoming Schedule

Alongside van Gisbergen and Hill, Sammy Smith, Jesse Love, and Corey Day completed the top five. The rest of the top ten included Brent Crews, William Sawalich, Justin Allgaier, Ross Chastain, and Brennan Poole. The series will continue next Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Phoenix Raceway, with the race airing at 7:30 pm on The CW.
