Tyler Reddick Makes NASCAR History with 3 Straight Wins

Tyler Reddick made NASCAR history at the Circuit of Americas by becoming the first driver since the Cup Series began in 1949 to win the first three races of a season. This milestone halted Shane van Gisbergen’s pursuit to tie the record for consecutive road-course wins in the series. Reddick’s win solidified his dominance early in the 2026 season and extended his impressive streak across different types of tracks.

Reddick’s Dominant Performance at the Texas Grand Prix

Starting from the pole position in Sunday’s DuraMAX Texas Grand Prix, Reddick showcased his skill and consistency by leading 58 of the race’s 95 laps. Despite strong challenges from Ryan Blaney and van Gisbergen, Reddick maintained control, finishing nearly four seconds ahead of the runner-up. This victory was especially notable as it prevented van Gisbergen from tying Jeff Gordon’s record of six consecutive road-course wins.

Van Gisbergen acknowledged his struggles, particularly citing a lack of lateral grip during the race. Toward the final laps, Reddick’s Toyota clearly had more horsepower on the long front stretch compared to van Gisbergen’s Chevrolet.

“His (Reddick) driving was immaculate and his car was very good, too,”

said Shane van Gisbergen, who had also won the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race at COTA the day before.

“It’s weird to be disappointed with second.”

Historic Precedents for Early Season Wins

Before Reddick’s unprecedented run, only five drivers had captured wins in the first two races of the season. These include NASCAR legends such as Matt Kenseth in 2009 and Jeff Gordon in 1997, alongside David Pearson (1976), Bob Welborn (1959), and Marvin Panch (1957). Reddick’s current streak of three consecutive opening wins places him in exclusive company and amplifies the significance of his early 2026 success.

Coming off a winless 2025 season, Reddick’s early dominance has stunned many in the NASCAR community, cementing his status as a serious championship contender.

Team 23XI Racing’s Rise and Strategic Excellence

Michael Jordan, co-owner of 23XI Racing, expressed enthusiasm following the victory, emphasizing the need for evolution in the sport.

“It’s time for change,”

Jordan said as he celebrated with Reddick’s crew on pit road. He praised Reddick’s composure under pressure and the team’s preparation.

Jordan gave high acclaim to crew chief Billy Scott’s strategy during the event, highlighting the crew chief’s skill in race management and Reddick’s precise execution.

“I think (crew chief) Billy (Scott) did an unbelievable job in calling … the race, and Tyler did a good job. He beat some good competition. You see SVG coming back there, you get a little nervous, but I think he had him covered pretty much the whole day.”

Jordan further credited fellow co-owner Denny Hamlin with identifying Reddick and assembling the strong driver-crew chief partnership that has fueled their success.

“I just put up the money,”

Jordan admitted.

“I think Denny has done an unbelievable job in terms of helping build this team, and I think the team has done a good job of taking on leadership and going out and winning. That’s what it’s about, winning.”

Only three races into the 2026 season, 23XI Racing has proven itself a formidable championship competitor, with Reddick winning across three very different track types: the superspeedway at Daytona, the high-speed 1.54-mile Atlanta track, and now a technical road course at COTA.

Reddick’s Consistency at Circuit of Americas

Reddick’s win Sunday marked his second victory at COTA since the NASCAR Cup Series started racing there in 2021, making him the first driver with multiple wins on the challenging track. In six COTA events, Reddick has only finished outside the top five once—the inaugural race where he placed ninth.

This latest triumph brought Reddick’s total career NASCAR wins to 11 and propelled him to a 70-point lead over teammate Bubba Wallace in the driver standings. Veteran drivers Chase Elliott, Ryan Blaney, and Shane van Gisbergen complete the top five positions.

Reddick’s Rising Legacy and Impact on NASCAR

This strong start to the season is setting the tone for Tyler Reddick’s potential to become one of NASCAR’s elite. His ability to adapt and win on diverse tracks, combined with 23XI Racing’s strategic acumen and leadership from figures like Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin, highlights a promising future for the team and the sport.

With NASCAR enthusiasts watching closely, Reddick’s performance raises exciting possibilities for whether he can sustain this momentum and challenge records long held by greats such as Jeff Gordon and Matt Kenseth. The early 2026 season has already delivered intense competition and showcased Reddick’s determination and resilience as a titan of the sport.
