Tyler Reddick’s impressive winning streak came to an end during the recent NASCAR Cup Series race at Phoenix, where he faced challenges that prevented him from clinching a fourth consecutive victory. After dominating the first three races of the 2026 season, the 23XI Racing driver was eager to extend his streak but ultimately finished eighth amid widespread issues with tire performance affecting multiple competitors.
Race Dynamics and Reddick’s Performance Details
Reddick entered the Phoenix event on a historic roll, having made NASCAR history by winning the opening trio of the season’s races. However, as the race unfolded, he struggled to maintain the handling of his Jordan Brand Toyota Camry, frequently oscillating in positioning and eventually settling near fifth place for much of the event. Toward the end, Reddick opted for a two-tire pit stop strategy but found the car tightening on him as the laps wound down.
“Yeah, you know, we just couldn’t find our handling a little bit,”
Reddick explained during his post-race interview with FOX Sports’ Jaime Little.
“It seemed like our Jordan Brand Toyota Camry had good speed. It was just kind of back and forth on which direction we think we needed to go with our Camry, and so we kind of just hovered around fifth all day, and yeah, we took those two tires there.

It just got a little tight on us at the end, but all in all, yeah, would have been nice to make it four, but looking at the board over here, you know, scored the fourth most amount of points on the day.
Positive Outlook Despite the Loss
Although the victory slipped away, Reddick maintained an optimistic mindset about his points standing and the team’s outlook for the rest of the season. He emphasized the importance of consistency in maintaining his lead and accumulating valuable points throughout the year.
“That’s kind of what we need to just keep doing all year to keep the lead that we have and try and hang on to it. So yeah, just a solid day. If we’re not going to win, these are the kind of days we need to have, and I’m glad to get out of here with some points,”
Reddick concluded in his interview.
Ryan Blaney’s Victory and Team Penske’s Success
The win at Phoenix was captured by Ryan Blaney, who managed to outpace both Reddick and Christopher Bell on a challenging day for many drivers. Blaney, representing Team Penske, acknowledged the strong performance of Bell’s car and credited his crew chief, Jonathan Hassler, for an excellent pit call that made a decisive difference late in the race.
“We had a couple of mistakes that we learned from and got better. I had to come from the back a couple of times,”
Blaney remarked, according to NBC Sports.
“Honestly, [Christopher Bell] had the best car. [Crew chief] Jonathan [Hassler] made a great call to take two [tires]. We were able to get the lead and just hold them off. I don’t know how many more laps to hold them off. We were able to do that. Really proud of everybody at Team Penske.
So cool we swept the weekend. [IndyCar star Josef] Newgarden winning yesterday, us winning today. Can’t wait to see Roger [Penske]. It’s cool to win here again, especially after a day like that.
Implications for the NASCAR Season Ahead
With Reddick’s win streak coming to an end, the competition in the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series remains fierce, demonstrating how quickly race dynamics can shift, even for the hottest drivers. Reddick’s continued strong point accumulation keeps him in a commanding position, but Blaney’s victory highlights the resilience and strategy required to seize opportunities on challenging tracks like Phoenix. As the season progresses, the rivalry between drivers such as Reddick, Blaney, and Bell promises to intensify, with team decisions and tire management playing critical roles in each race outcome.
