Jules Bernard Signs Two-Way Contract with Timberwolves

The Minnesota Timberwolves have officially signed guard Jules Bernard to a two-way contract, offering him another chance to compete at the NBA level. This move was confirmed through the NBA’s transaction records, as reported by Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.

Background and Career Development of Jules Bernard

Bernard, a 6-foot-6 shooting guard who went undrafted from UCLA in 2022, has sharpened his skills primarily in the G League since starting his professional career. Over the last three and a half years, he has played for several G League teams, including the Motor City Cruise, Capital City Go-Go, Cleveland Charge, and currently, the Iowa Wolves, Minnesota’s G League affiliate.

Performance Highlights with the Iowa Wolves This Season

This season, Bernard has made a notable impact while playing for the Iowa Wolves. He has appeared in 36 games, averaging 22.8 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game across nearly 35 minutes on the court. His shooting efficiency stands at 42.9% from the field, 35.3% beyond the three-point line, and 80.1% at the free-throw line.

Previous NBA Experience and Timberwolves’ Roster Changes

Before joining Minnesota, Bernard gained NBA experience last season on a two-way contract with the Washington Wizards, appearing in 19 NBA games and accumulating 149 minutes. The Timberwolves were able to sign him without making additional roster cuts because Johnny Juzang was recently waived after reaching the 50-game limit on two-way player appearances, opening a spot for Bernard. He will join Enrique Freeman and Rocco Zikarsky as part of Minnesota’s two-way roster.

Details of Bernard’s Contract and Next Steps

Under this contract, Bernard can be active for up to 14 NBA regular-season games for the remainder of the season. However, unless the Timberwolves convert his deal to a standard 15-player NBA contract, Bernard will not be eligible to participate in the playoffs.
