Los Angeles Clippers forward Nicolas Batum commented on Monday about the swirling trade rumors involving James Harden after their 128-113 defeat to the Philadelphia 76ers. Batum revealed he had not received any direct information about the possible trade and learned about it only through media reports.
“I really don’t know. So, unlike all of you guys, I heard about it. Can read about it. It’s happening. I haven’t heard anything from anyone. So, rumors though, this happened. So we’re during the game. So I really don’t know,”
Batum said.
Handling Trade Season Uncertainty
Batum explained that he found out about the trade speculation only after the game concluded and acknowledged how rumors tend to intensify as the trade deadline approaches.
“I only find out like after it. I don’t know… The deadline always rumors go around, names dropping. So, let’s see what happens,”
he remarked.
Regarding how players cope with the unstable nature of trade season, Batum stressed focusing on what he can control on the court and remaining ready for any sudden changes.
“You get control of what you can control. You go out there, play the game, do what you have to do, go home, get ready for the next day, and then someone calls you to send you somewhere else, you do it,”
he added.

Asked if the timing of these rumors was surprising given the Clippers’ recent strong stretch of play, Batum offered a cautious response, admitting uncertainty. Monday’s game also marked Harden’s second consecutive absence due to personal reasons, with coach Tyronn Lue confirming Harden was at home in Phoenix.
Kawhi Leonard led the Clippers’ offense with 29 points, while Jordan Miller provided 21 points off the bench. The 76ers, missing Paul George, secured their fourth consecutive victory behind Tyrese Maxey’s 29 points, Dominick Barlow’s 26 points and 16 rebounds, and Joel Embiid’s 24 points in his return from a right ankle injury.
