Toronto Raptors forward Brandon Ingram was named on Tuesday as the replacement for Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry on the USA Stripes squad for the upcoming NBA All-Star Game. The event will be held on Sunday at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California.
Ingram, who is 28 years old, will participate in his second NBA All-Star Game and his first since the 2019-20 season. This campaign, he is averaging 22.0 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game over 52 starts.
Curry, a two-time NBA All-Star Game MVP, will miss the game due to a right knee injury. The 37-year-old has posted averages of 27.2 points, 4.8 assists, and 3.5 rebounds in 39 games this season but has not played since exiting a January 30 home game against the Detroit Pistons.
Curry is one of multiple All-Stars sidelined by injury, joining Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who is out with an abdominal issue. Gilgeous-Alexander’s spot on Team World has been filled by Houston Rockets center Alperen Sengun.
