Jalen Green Reveals Perfect Fit and Praises Suns’ Bigs

Phoenix Suns guard Jalen Green is gradually integrating into the team after joining through the Kevin Durant trade last summer. As of February 10, Green has appeared in six games, totaling just 86 minutes due to a recurring hamstring injury.

With no further injury issues, Green is expected to increase his playing time alongside a Suns squad currently nine games above .500 and positioned for the playoffs heading into the All-Star Weekend. Head coach Jordan Ott is still determining how Green best complements the roster, but the Suns’ strong performance when Green and star Devin Booker share the floor — outscoring opponents 139-99 in 47 minutes — hints at untapped potential for the team.

Green Comments on Team Style and Collaboration with Suns’ Big Men

In a video posted on the Suns’ official Instagram, Green shared insights on the team’s strengths and his role. Highlighting the team’s pace and style, he said,

“Rolling bigs. Lob threats. Play fast,”

explaining that it creates

“a good opportunity for me to get downhill and, you know, be a threat.”

Despite limited playtime with Phoenix so far, Green’s athleticism demonstrated with his former team, the Houston Rockets, remains among the league’s best. His speed and ability to drive to the basket are expected to bolster the Suns’ offensive options alongside their promising frontcourt.

Green Commends Suns’ Frontcourt Players Mark Williams and Oso Ighodaro

Green expressed admiration for the big men who have already exceeded expectations this season. Referring to sophomore center Oso Ighodaro, he noted,

“Oso’s really good. He’s got high IQ.”

Speaking of starting center Mark Williams, Green added,

“Mark is a big presence down there, also high IQ,”

before concluding,

“I’m looking forward to having more minutes with them.”

Statistical Indicators Reflect Positive Early Impact

While Green’s statistics remain within a “small sample size,” the early data points are promising. The Suns have outperformed opponents by 40 points in just 47 minutes when Green and Booker have shared the court.

NBA.com reports that the lineup featuring Green, Booker, Grayson Allen, Dillon Brooks, and Mark Williams holds an offensive rating of 120 and a defensive rating of 92.3, yielding an impressive net rating of 27.7 points per 100 possessions. Substituting Ighodaro for Williams results in a strong net rating of 18.6 points per 100 possessions.

The Suns’ defense has been a marked improvement this season, rising from 28th in the league last year to ninth in defensive rating. Green’s increasing role could provide a timely boost to the team’s offense, adding another dimension to a squad already demonstrating strong playoff potential.
