On Friday, Nina Westbrook posted a screenshot of an email containing vulgar language aimed at both herself and her husband. The message harshly criticized Westbrook for his poor scoring and ended with a violent death wish, escalating tensions well beyond typical fan frustration.
The email stated that Westbrook
sucks to [expletive] bad can’t even get 10 points is pathetic
and added,
I hope you both die in a car crash.

As a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT), Nina Westbrook addressed the psychological dangers that legalized gambling can pose to individuals and families. She urged caution, especially regarding how addictive sports betting behavior is and its ripple effects within the sports community.
She explained,
As an LMFT, I have a keen understanding of the psychological implications and dangers of sports betting and gambling,
and warned,
Gambling is a highly addictive behavior, and people should understand the risks associated with it — especially before introducing it to their children.
Nina Westbrook also reflected on how threats like the one she shared may be an early sign of gambling’s negative consequences.
I don’t claim to have all the answers,
she stated,
but the threatening behavior directed toward athletes and their families after games has proven to be one of the early results of amped-up sports betting.
