Kevin Huerter visited Chicago on Saturday as a member of the Detroit Pistons during a game against his former team, the Bulls. This marked his first return to Chicago since being involved in a three-team trade that also included the Minnesota Timberwolves. The trade sent Jaden Ivey from the Pistons to the Bulls as part of the deal.
Huerter Reflects on the Uncommon Volume of Trades Made by the Bulls
Before the game, Huerter shared his thoughts on the recent series of seven trades executed by the Bulls this season, which he discussed with K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Sports Network. He noted the team’s position and the surprising number of moves.
“We were sitting at .500 all year,”
Huerter said.
“It could’ve gone either way. As players, you have to expect everything. But seven trades, I don’t know if I expected that.”

Experiencing a Second Consecutive Midseason Trade and Adjusting to a New Team
Huerter spoke about the challenges of transitioning through trades while emphasizing how joining a competitive team eased his adjustment on the court.
“The transition is always tough. But coming to a team that’s No. 1 in the East and competes their ass off, it definitely makes it easier on the court.”

Background on Previous Trades and Huerter’s Performance This Season
Last year, Huerter arrived in Chicago through another three-way trade that sent Zach LaVine to the Sacramento Kings, while the Bulls received Huerter and Tre Jones from the San Antonio Spurs and Zach Collins from the Kings. This season, Huerter has averaged 10.3 points and 3.7 rebounds per game before moving to Detroit.
With the Pistons, he has appeared in four games, averaging 4.3 points per contest, though he is currently sidelined due to back tightness.
Contrasting Team Records and What It Means for the Players
As of Saturday, the Detroit Pistons hold the best record in the Eastern Conference at 41-13, demonstrating strong performance this season. In contrast, the Bulls have struggled, standing at 24-32 and suffering through a seven-game losing streak, creating a tense atmosphere for Chicago’s roster.
