New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers is making remarkable strides in his injury recovery, following ACL and meniscus tears that ended his 2025 season early. Nabers recently described his rehabilitation progress as “phenomenal” during an update shared with ESPN’s Jordan Raanan, highlighting his ongoing efforts to return to full health.
The injury occurred in Week 4 when Nabers was attempting to catch a pass from quarterback Jaxson Dart in a victory against the Los Angeles Chargers. The knee damage required surgery in October, which involved both ACL reconstruction and a complete meniscus repair, sidelining Nabers for the remainder of the season.
The Challenges of Rehabilitating Major Knee Injuries
Recovering from an ACL tear typically demands a recovery period of nine to twelve months, but adding a full meniscus repair can extend the timeline further. Medical specialists agree the combined surgical procedures require careful and lengthy rehabilitation to ensure proper healing and to prevent re-injury.
“He did in fact have a full meniscus repair in addition to ACL surgery in October,” Raanan reported. “That explains the crutch and brace he was wearing last month. Typically full meniscus repair does add to recovery timeline.”
Nabers has taken a measured approach to his comeback, emphasizing the importance of long-term health over rushing back onto the field. He has expressed his intention to listen closely to his body’s signals, stating in January:
If my body doesn’t feel right, then I’m not gonna go out there.
Adjusting to a New Chapter with the Giants
As Malik Nabers progresses in his recovery, the Giants organization is undergoing its own transformation. The recent hiring of John Harbaugh as the new head coach signals a fresh start following Brian Daboll’s departure. Nabers’ return timing will be critical in helping the team break its three-year playoff drought.
Having a versatile and dynamic receiver like Nabers back at full strength is viewed as a vital component of the Giants’ offensive resurgence. Nabers continues to work closely with medical and training staff, maintaining a positive outlook as he commits fully to the rehabilitation process.
The community around the Giants—players, coaches, and fans alike—are watching Nabers’ recovery journey with hope, eager to see the young star recapture the tremendous promise he showed during his rookie season, which included Pro Bowl recognition and significant contributions early in his sophomore year.
