The Seattle Seahawks marked their Super Bowl victory with a parade at Disneyland in Anaheim, California, on Monday, joining fans in celebrating their recent championship win. The event was especially meaningful for quarterback Sam Darnold, who was born in Orange County and grew up nearby.
Players Share Personal Reflections During Celebration
Sam Darnold and MVP Kenneth Walker III were the featured guests at the Super Bowl parade down Main Street, U.S.A. Darnold fondly recalled his childhood visits to Disneyland, saying,
“I remember coming to Disneyland all the time with my family,”
and added,
“It’s unbelievable to be back here.”
Reflecting on his upbringing, Darnold spoke about the support he received from his community, stating,
“It’s incredible, just how much those people… mean to me, what they did for me growing up. There’s so many countless people that are in that community that helped me grow into the person that I am today.”
Walker III, attending Disneyland for the first time, spoke about the importance of gratitude after the team’s intense Super Bowl LX victory less than 24 hours earlier.
“Be grateful for everything. You know, because you never know when it can be over,”
he said.
Disneyland Parade Upholds Longstanding NFL Tradition
The Seahawks’ Disneyland celebration follows a tradition dating back to 1987 when Phill Simms of the New York Giants first participated in the Super Bowl parade at the park. This annual event continues to be a significant occasion for championship teams and their fans alike.
Looking Forward to Future Super Bowl Events in Southern California
Preparations are underway for the next Super Bowl to be hosted in Southern California at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, home to the L.A. Rams and L.A. Chargers. This stadium, which held the Super Bowl in 2022, is set to host the game again on February 14, 2027, underscoring Southern California’s role as a key venue for major NFL events.
