Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams recently shared insights into the hard work and sacrifice made by head coach Ben Johnson and his coaching team since their arrival in Chicago. Speaking on Maxx Crosby’s podcast, The Rush with Maxx Crosby, Williams detailed how the staff’s commitment went beyond the field, emphasizing the personal sacrifices they endured to transform the franchise.
Williams stated,
“I cannot credit anyone but Ben Johnson and the staff. The control they had of the situation, the belief and the confidence they had in themselves, but also they sacrificed to get this thing going. Ben got hired and they went to work immediately and they went hours and got into it not seeing their families from the start. We’re not talking about season. They in there day and night in the facility from the jump. Their families had to move and stuff so they weren’t seeing their families from the jump.”

Since Johnson was hired, Bears fans quickly embraced the culture shift he introduced, admiring his confidence in the team and public remarks about challenging rivals like Matt LaFleur’s squad. The coaching staff implemented a new system that allowed the Bears to rapidly improve, resulting in an 11-6 record in Johnson’s first year and securing the NFC North division title.
The Bears advanced past the Wild Card round by overturning an 18-point deficit against the Green Bay Packers, highlighting their resilience and preparation. Johnson’s efforts earned him an AP Coach of the Year nomination, following the team’s deep playoff run to the Divisional Round.
