Andy Reid Rules Out Tyreek Hill Chiefs Reunion, for Now

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid expressed skepticism on Friday regarding the idea of bringing wide receiver Tyreek Hill back to the team. Hill, an eight-time Pro Bowl athlete, was recently released by the Miami Dolphins and is currently recovering from a serious knee injury.

Details on Hill’s Injury and Current Condition

Hill suffered a torn ACL and a dislocated knee during a late-September win against the New York Jets. Reid remarked,

“I don’t even know if Tyreek is healthy right now to do anything,”

emphasizing the uncertainty around Hill’s current physical state. Hill himself reported in a recent Twitch stream that his recovery is “going good,” though he still faces an additional surgery as part of the process.

Hill’s Career Overview and Impact on Chiefs

Tyreek Hill, who will turn 32 in March, made a notable impact during his six seasons with the Chiefs from 2016 to 2021. He earned three first-team All-Pro honors—twice as a receiver and once as a returner—and amassed 479 receptions for 6,630 yards and 56 touchdowns across 91 games. After his time in Kansas City, Hill played four seasons with Miami, where he started this year but managed only 21 catches for 265 yards and one touchdown in four games before his injury.

Chiefs’ Receiver Challenges and Future Prospects

Kansas City struggled in passing production last season, ranking 16th nationally, partly due to inconsistent performances and availability issues from younger receivers such as Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy. Reid acknowledged that while discussions about Hill might occur, “there’s nothing happening there,” indicating no current plans for a reunion despite the team’s needs.

What Lies Ahead for Hill and the Chiefs

Though Hill is actively working on his comeback, the severity of his injury and pending surgery complicate any immediate return to play. The Chiefs will likely continue developing their existing roster options while monitoring Hill’s situation. Reid’s cautious stance suggests the team is not rushing contract or roster decisions tied to Hill in the near term.

“But yeah, listen, we talk about everything. So there’s nothing happening there, but we know what you know – that he’s out there and cranking away, trying to get himself back to where he can play, period.”
