Bills Set to Pursue Tyreek Hill, Josh Allen’s Top WR Target

The Buffalo Bills are expected to aggressively pursue a premier wide receiver during this offseason, with Tyreek Hill emerging as their top target. Hill became a free agent on February 16 after the Miami Dolphins released him, allowing him to sign with any team immediately rather than waiting for the new league year to begin on March 11. The Bills’ pursuit of Hill aligns with their goal of strengthening the receiving corps around quarterback Josh Allen.

Predictions Point to Bills Signing Tyreek Hill

Sports Illustrated’s Conor Orr has predicted that Buffalo will secure Hill’s signature this offseason. Orr suggests the competition for Hill’s services will be less dramatic, focusing primarily on which franchise offers the best guarantees. He emphasized Hill’s talent as deserving of strong interest from teams aiming to bolster their wide receiver group.

“While I think the chase for Hill will be closer to the post-hype ‘chase for Odell Beckham Jr.—less of a drama and more about which team is willing to shell out even the slightest of guarantees—he is good enough to warrant the curiosity of a team on the doorstep,”

Orr wrote.

“Brandon Beane and new head coach Joe Brady have been on a PR blitz this offseason to counteract the firing of Sean McDermott. Pacifying the fan base by showing interest in a slew of brand-name wide receivers is one of the fastest ways to alter public perception.”

Hill brings considerable experience, having been selected to eight Pro Bowls, including most recently in 2023. He spent the first six seasons of his career with the Kansas City Chiefs before signing with the Dolphins, where he has played for four seasons.

Hill’s Recovery Progressing After Major Injury

Despite suffering a serious knee injury last season that limited him to just four games, Hill is reportedly making positive recovery strides. He underwent surgery in late September to repair multiple torn ligaments and his ACL. In a recent interview on February 12, Hill shared an update on his condition, indicating improvements in his mobility.

“I’m feeling good. I mean, I’m walking with no brace on right now,”

Hill told PEOPLE exclusively, via Skyler Caruso.

“I’m in my second week of walking with no brace, so I’m proud of that. So I’m feeling good.”

Buffalo’s Strategy to Strengthen Josh Allen’s Receiving Options

The Bills see Hill as a crucial addition who could provide the speed and field-stretching ability that their offense needs. Having a receiver of Hill’s caliber would benefit Josh Allen’s passing game significantly, giving Buffalo a stronger weapon to compete in the postseason. The risk of Hill joining a potential playoff rival, such as the Chiefs or a divisional opponent like the New England Patriots, only increases Buffalo’s motivation to act decisively.

Importantly, the Bills can sign Hill without sacrificing draft picks or other assets, making a commitment to him a low-cost, high-reward move. This contrasts with previous offseason strategies that involved handing over valuable draft capital. Following the firing of former head coach Sean McDermott, Buffalo’s front office, led by general manager Brandon Beane and new head coach Joe Brady, appears focused on demonstrating their championship ambitions by targeting proven stars in free agency.

Implications of Signing Hill for Buffalo’s Title Hopes

The addition of Tyreek Hill would mark a significant step in Buffalo’s quest to secure a Super Bowl appearance, reflecting their eagerness to surround Josh Allen with elite talent. Hill’s ability to recover from injury and return to form remains a key factor, but his established track record as an explosive receiver makes him an attractive candidate. If Buffalo can finalize a deal, it would send a strong message to the league that the Bills are fully committed to competing at the highest level this season.
