The Las Vegas Raiders are optimistic about retaining defensive end Maxx Crosby through the 2026 season, general manager John Spytek confirmed during the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis on February 23. Crosby, who agreed to a three-year, $106.5 million contract extension in 2025, has been a key contributor for the Raiders with 44.5 sacks over the past four seasons.
Maxx Crosby’s Impact on the Raiders
Selected in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft, Crosby, now 28, has developed into one of the league’s most formidable defensive players. He has earned five Pro Bowl selections and led the NFL in tackles for loss in both 2022 and 2023. In 2023, he recorded a personal best of 14.5 sacks and added 10 quarterback takedowns in 2025, solidifying his reputation as an elite pass rusher.
Relationship Between Raiders Management and Crosby
Spytek emphasized the strong relationship he maintains with Crosby, citing regular communication through phone calls and texts. He expressed confidence that Crosby is eager to remain with the Raiders and their AFC West rivals. However, Spytek also acknowledged the business side of the sport, stating he remains open to trade discussions but declined to categorize Crosby as untradeable.
“Maxx is an elite player and I’ve been very upfront from the start when I got here that we’re in the business of having really good players on the team, and we need a lot more of them,”
Spytek said at the Indianapolis Convention Center.
